This bike was auctioned at the annual Lance Armstrong Foundation Gala in New York in 2005 and went for $75,000. The astronomical price is because of its precious embellishments such as a Diamond 7 emblem set in a spoke pattern with stunning diamonds. Plus, there is a Diamond 7 plaque in 14-carat yellow and white gold studded with seven one-carat yellow Gemesis diamonds.

Now, you know why it is worth the astronomical price tag.

#2 Trek Yoshimoto Nara: $200,000

This bike sold for $200,000 at a Sotheby’s auction. Yoshmito Nara embellished it with a cartoon theme of kids in boxing gloves, flying UFOs, and a Livestrong logo. This bicycle was ridden by Lance Armstrong in the 18th stage of one of the Tour de France races. In the same Sotheby’s charity auction, Trek sold other bikes for about $800,000. These vehicles were designed by famous artists and based on the bikes ridden by Armstrong in top cycling events.

#1 Trek Butterfly Madone: $500,000

Damien Hirst placed the real butterfly wings on the bike’s concrete frame and rim. This bicycle was used by Lance Armstrong in the 2009 Tour de France race. It fetched an amazing $500,000 at a Sotheby’s cancer benefit charity auction, making it top of the pops in our list of most expensive bikes. However, the use of butterfly wings attracted the wrath of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) which termed it a “horrific barbarity.”
