This bike sold for $200,000 at a Sotheby’s auction. Yoshmito Nara embellished it with a cartoon theme of kids in boxing gloves, flying UFOs, and a Livestrong logo. This bicycle was ridden by Lance Armstrong in the 18th stage of one of the Tour de France races. In the same Sotheby’s charity auction, Trek sold other bikes for about $800,000. Damien Hirst placed the real butterfly wings on the bike’s concrete frame and rim. This bicycle was used by Lance Armstrong in the 2009 Tour de France race. It fetched an amazing $500,000 at a Sotheby’s cancer benefit charity auction, making it top of the pops in our list of most expensive bikes. However, the use of butterfly wings attracted the wrath of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) which termed it a “horrific barbarity.”
